Over Isabelle’s Pawradise
Our greetings “deer” dog, cat, bird, chicken, cow, sheep, goat, guinea pig's, rabbits pawrents.🤗
My name is Isabelle, born in 1992 in Nicaragua🇳🇮, lived there until I was 26 years old, and in the end of 2018 I move to Belgium 🇧🇪. (In advance sorry for the long description, just wanted to share my whole background and experience with you, so you can feel comfortable and at ease when leaving your pets at my care, hope you have a few minutes and enjoy the read, it would be amazing if you could please read till the end)
My whole life I have been always around animals, my first pet when I was 4 years old was a couple of turtles and a looot of fishes, then at my grandparents farm I was so used to be around dogs, cats, parrots, chickens, turkeys, pigs, sheep, goats, cows and one sweet but very shy horse and I loved helping take care of them.🥰
Both my parents are biologists. My father is an entomologist, funding an entomology museum in Nicaragua, so I have been also surrounded by all types of insects, butterflies, beetles, scorpions and even a couple of tarantulas spiders that my father kept as pets. All the best memories of my childhood have been of me being around animals and helping taking care of them. When they would get sick, it was always an awful nightmare 💔but this inspired me to study and become a veterinarian. I studied 7 years at the university in León-Nicaragua where I learned so much about all kind of animals. From 2 semesters of anatomy, ethology (animal behaviour), biochemistry, biology, microbiology, physiology - physiopathology, internal medicine, pharmacology, immunology, genetics, parasitology, nutrition, to even surgery in domestic animals. I also interned for a semester at the national zoo of Nicaragua where I learned so much about wild and exotic animals and this was such an exciting experience
In 2013 I adopted my first own doggy, a German shepherd mix😍, his name was Gandhi (I was deeply inspired by what his name represents: justice in a peaceful way, staying humble, and living with purpose and simplicity) I learned so much while training him at home and our favourite place to go was the sea every weekend.❤️ I also adopted a squirrel because the owner didn’t know much about how to take care of him. During his recovery we became great friends, he had his own carrier and we used to go everywhere together.❤️
I’ve also volunteered as a surgical assistant during sterilization campaigns, helped feed and care for street dogs, and spent time supporting a small local shelter. It always broke my heart not being able to do more for them. I try (and still do when I go back) to share awareness and offer guidance wherever I can— but it never feels like enough, I still do donations and help as much as I can.
After successfully completing my studies and internship, I worked on my thesis: "zoonotic parasites in dogs" with a 9/10 grade and I graduatedas a veterinarian in the early 2018. Nicaragua is unfortunately not the same since 04-2018 which is the reason why I moved to Belgium.
Since I moved to Belgium, I started working in the healthcare sector (woonzorgcentra), as I am always happy to help people in need. Meanwhile I studied Dutch in the evenings, but deep in my heart my biggest vocation and passion has always been working with animals. In 2022 I learned about Pawshake when walking in the center of Leuven and approaching a lady asking if i could pet her dogs, she was surprised that her dogs liked me so fast and told me “You should join the Pawshake community”, which is what I did and it has been the best experience of my life.
I live together with my fiancée close by the center of Leuven, he also loves animals a lot, he started studying to became a groomer but still needs to do his internship.
In 2022 we welcomed our own puppy also namedGandhi (in honour of my previous doggy), a Corgi male. Gandhi was sterilized in 2023. He is incredibly smart, sweet, enthusiastic and playful but also adores to take long naps. We train him at home, we are big fans of Zak Georges training style because we like to use positive reinforcement. We don’t use domination techniques as our mayor goal is to create a lovely and trustworthy communication with doggies.
From 2025 I will be dedicating myself full time to pet-sitting because it is the best job in the world and because it’s my dream to take care and spend asmuch time as possible with animals🤎. I consider this to be the best use of all my knowledge and I still feel very eager to learn more everyday. What’s better than my hobby and love becoming my job?
So you can rest assured that your pet will be receiving all the care and attention they need. My fiancée works from home 50% of the time so if Ineed to do a home visit, our guest-pets at home will always have love and care ❣️If your pets has separation anxiety it is important you let us know so we can arrange our schedule properly around this.
I know that every pet is unique, with their own personality, fears, and needs. Whether your furry companion needs a safe and loving place to stay, regular walks, or care in their own home, I provide personalized attention, patience, and lots of love —just like you would. I also have experience in reading body language, handling pets with care, and administering medication (including insulin).
Leaving your pet with someone else can be hard, when I need to visit my parents for 3 weeks, it is so difficult to be apart from Gandhi. So I know exactly how you feel when leaving your pet at someone else’s care and I want you to have complete peace of mind knowing they are in caring, loving and capable hands. With me, they will be treated like family —because all animals are to me.
My favourite hobbies beside animals are:
• Photography: so you can expect loooots of photos when your pets are with me
• Walks: I love walks in the nature, and my big problem is I loose a bit the sense of time, is always so relaxing + a bit of time for some more pics.
• I love playing piano and also singing a bit, so the house is always felt with music
• Plants: Plants are all around the house, but dont worry they are pet safe
• I adore reading; pets + books+ coffe = pawradise <3
• Riding bicycle: wich i use a lot to do home vistis
