ABOUT MYSELF AND MY MOTIVATION TO BE A PET SITTER

I’m originally from Spain but have been living in Belgium for the past five years, after moving here for my current job at the European Parliament, where I work on events and Human Rights policies.

In 2023, my life changed for the better when Betty, my sweet Beagle, joined my home. Betty had a rough start in life; born and raised in Russia, she spent her early years in difficult conditions, used for breeding. Fortunately, she was rescued by the authorities and cared for by a foster family before I adopted her through an NGO. Since then, we’ve been building a new, joyful chapter together here in Belgium. Betty has brought so much happiness into my life, filling spaces once occupied by anxiety and sadness with laughter, play, and unconditional love.

I live in Brussels, right next to a big park where dogs can run freely, but I also love taking long walks, both through the city and in the nearby woods. Being a Beagle, Betty is a natural explorer, always led by her nose and a love for scents!

I telework three days a week and often bring Betty (and any dog I’m caring for) with me to the office. Betty and I are rarely apart; she comes along for groceries, visits to the doctor, dinners with friends, and more.

As a sitter, I offer a home filled with patience, affection, and adventure: whether it’s calm days at home or exciting outdoor explorations. I would love to welcome your furry friend into our little family, making sure they feel safe, loved, and cared for while you’re away!

My Journey and Approach to Dog Care

I feel very lucky to have grown up in a family that instilled in me the values of commitment, effort, and empathy; qualities that have shaped my way of relating to the environment, nature, and, of course, animals.

Since moving to Belgium, and especially over the past three years, I have regularly been dog-sitting for friends. After COVID, my work-related travel was greatly reduced. Another change brought by the pandemic is that I now telework from home three days a week, which allows me to have even more time to care for dogs.

Through taking care of my friend's dogs and now my own dog, Betty, I’ve discovered that Brussels is an incredibly dog-friendly city. I love incorporating dogs into my daily life, whether it’s walking through the city, visiting parks, or enjoying outdoor plans. Dogs naturally fit into my rhythm because I prefer to walk everywhere and spend as much time outdoors as possible.

Every dog I look after becomes a priority in my day-to-day life, sharing my routines and my free time.

I don’t just watch over dogs, my goal is to take them on fun, stimulating walks and ensure they get lots of love and playtime.
